Lucio Fontana (February 19th, 1899 Rosario, Argentina - died, September 7, 1968 Comabbio, Varese, Italy). Spatial Concept (1949-1950), part of his famous Buchi series, the horizontal rows of punched buchi (holes) did not served as decorative or compositional purpose but were thresholds to a pictorial and, by extension, transcendental space that lay beyond the confines of the picture plane.
